Manure Mushroom

This was another mushroom I found on my hike in Briones State Park. Again, All I could figure out from a quick look through the mushroom book was that this was a Manure Mushroom. No idea though. Mushrooms can look so much alike. That’s why it’s a bit crazy picking and eating these things. You never know.

Are you a mushroom expert? An ideas what type of mushroom this is?

You should not eat any wild mushroom. There are many mushrooms that are poisonous and look just like non-poisonous mushrooms. Eating a poisonous mushroom without immediate treatment may lead to death.

A wild mushroom should not be eaten unless it has been carefully examined and determined edible by a recognized mushroom expert.

Just because it’s on manure doesn’t mean it’s magic…lol! In fact, it doesn’t look like any magic kinds at all, more like an ‘lbm’…little brown mushroom of which there are thousands of mostly insignificant species. Try the experts at the forums of a place like http://www.sporelab.com and don’t eat it!

It didn’t appear to be growing on any dead matter. That would have been a good clue to this mushroom being a saprophyte. I still haven’t been able to identify it.

I couldn’t get the image to come up, but if you found that mushroom on manure then it will make you halucinate(sp).
