Filming Info / Updates

2013 Update! This page is being transitioned. So some of the links may no longer work. If you are looking for something specific, please try the Search form.

2010 Update! Purchased a GoPro HD and use it for most of my filming.

2009 Update! Purchased a pair of GoPro Hero Wide cameras. The quality isn’t that great but they work well for their purpose. New videos will now be filmed with a mix of cameras.

2008 Update! Now filming with a Canon HV20 high definition camera.

2004 Update! I’ve created a new helmet camera setup and film entirely with my Sony. Footage from now on will be higher quality.

Older Videos

I used a helmet camera and a Sony DCR TRV30 digital handycam stuffed inside a CamelBak to do my filming.

Once I have some video, I transfer it to my computer and do post-production with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Combustion, Photoshop, etc..

• Tahoe Hawley Grade Trail I captured the descent down Hawley Grade Trail in South Lake Tahoe with my little GoPro Hero Wide helmet camera. This is a really fun trail that drops from the top of Meyers Grade down to the bottom of Christmas Valley.

• 2009 Skyline MTB Race - Start - Expert/Pro Categories - 14 June 2009
  
  Wore the GoPro Hero Wide for the race. Captured the start in this segment. Look for the crash.

  The wonderful Velo Bellas have brought back the Surf City series. This is one of NorCal’s best. Come along and race with the Women and watch as they mix it up at Aptos High School. Video

  Our mayor hosted this DFL race in the spacious backyard of his Pacific Heights mansion. He’s a strong supporter of cross and wanted to participate in one of the infamous DFL races. See if you can spot him ripping up the course in a pretty little dress. Video

• Santa Rosa Twilight Criterium (Preview) (August 25, 2004)
  
  Just a short clip from the Cat 4/5 Race. I filmed the first corner to try and capture the action of the pack as it raced past. In the second part of the video I have slowed down the first part to 1/6th the speed. Interesting watching the riders pass by in slow motion. Video

2003 Videos

• Surf City Cyclo-X #1 (12 October 2003)
  
  This is the Women’s race at Aptos high school. I’ve mixed shots of the main group and two of the race leaders. The two are Sarah Kerlin and Stella Carey and were off the front but just behind Rachel Lloyd.

• Pilarcitos Bay Area Super Prestige CX #1 (5 October 2003)
  
  This is the Men’s A Race. This course was bumpy hard flat dirt. It sucked except for the small “hill” section. The Pilarcitos gang did a good though with what they had.

• Santa Rosa Twilight Criterium (August 12, 2003)
  
  This is the Cat 4/5 Race. I jumped in and let these guys chase me around.

  The 3 simultaneous views show the leaders, then Todd and Funke, then a chase group. The split views each begin at the same location on the course. As time progresses, note the speed of each group and how each reaches the pavement at different times.
