The FUCI Approved Frame sticker has been extended for the year 2012. The decision was made after a long deliberation by the overlords in the top secret FUCI sweat lodge atop the Matterhorn. It was a difficult decision but eventually concluded when supplies of mountain mushrooms and goat blood grog ran low.
Of course, fees will rise slightly for this year’s sticker. There are costs to cover. And new supplies to purchase…

OK – I have a small batch of stickers for a select few.
These are the larger 3″ diameter stickers. Great for larger surfaces. If you would like one then here’s how to get some. Send a S.A.S.E. (google it) through snail mail. Wha??? Yup, the old fashioned way. Step-by-step:
- You will need two envelopes. One large enough to hold the second smaller envelope. The second should be large enough to hold a sticker or two.
- Address the outer envelope to me:

- Address the inner envelope to yourself. This envelope needs to fit inside the outer envelope (see step #1). Place a stamp on the inner envelope. Do NOT forget the stamp. If you forget the stamp it will be like heading to the trail without your front wheel. Not going anywhere soon. One stamp should be enough.
- BONUS – If you include something for me along with the inner envelope then I will consider that when counting out stickers to return in your envelope. Draw a picture of what you think of the UCI, send along your sticker, or something creative. Cool.
- Now that you have everything together, place the smaller envelope (and optionally your bonus item) inside the first envelope. Seal only this first envelope. Make sure it’s addressed (step #2) and has a stamp.
- Ride out to your local mail box and drop it in.
Btw – Once you get your sticker and have applied it to the surface of your choice, grab a picture of it and e-mail it to me. I’ll add it to the FUCI Approved gallery.
Cheers!

A couple of photos from my recent road trip in the Sportsmobile up to Mendocino.

On my early evening ride in Marin I heard the singing of frogs off in the distance. As I reached the location of the source the crescendo of frog song peaked. The reed filled marsh was filled with what seemed like thousands of the unseen but heard. I walked out onto the small wooden bridge and recorded the song.

Went over to Marin for a Pine Mountain ride to end 2011. Grabbed a few photos with my GoPro Hero2. Beautiful day and surprisingly few others on the trails.

Watch the Singlespeed A and B categories spin around Spring Lake Regional Park for the second race of the 2011 Santa Rosa Cup Cyclocross series. This course was built for speed but with a mix of technical to keep everyone honest.
The footage begins with the A racers blasting off on the first lap. Then 3/4 way through it transitions to the third lap and the B leaders charging back up towards the start/finish.
Real fun course, great event, and something to look forward to for next season.

Here’s your own view of the Single-speed A race at the 2011 Santa Rosa Cup. This is a new series with new venues. The first venue, shown here, was at “A Place to Play Park” in Santa Rosa.
This two race series will offer up the coveted Santa Rosa CX Cup to the lucky low point winners. I’ll just pretend it’s in my grasp, but maybe you’re one of the lucky racers in contention.

Watch the final event in the Bay Area Super Prestige Cyclocross Series. See the Master 45+ A Men as well as a few stragglers from the 35+ field mix it up at Coyote Point.
The course offered a few new variations such as the fly-over, the pea gravel chicane, and some additional twists and turns. But the old favorite, the evil sandy beach section, was still in the mix.
Highlights to watch for include:
- Getting smacked in the head by a wheel
- Dumping it in the sandy hairpin
- Looking for a hand up
- Just plain suffering
Enjoy!

Watch the march of the category B men! A procession of racers descending on the Coyote Point shoreline. How they got there and where they are going is still a mystery.
