It’s been just one week since the Single-Speed CX World Championships was held on almost the same location. Where that had “logs of unusual size” and the “water feature”, this week’s course is a bit closer to a pure cyclocross course.

Welcome to race 2 of the 2011 Bay Area Super Prestige Cyclocross Series. Watch the Single-Speed A men spin around Sierra Point. The earlier start time meant that single-speed racers still had some remaining daylight. Later categories had an entirely different course that was lit only by high powered construction lights.

Doing one race with the “Barrier Of Unusual Size” wasn’t enough. So I jumped in for another round in the single-speed A race at the new Stafford Lake CX venue.

Wow, that was a painful decision. Especially with the 42×16 gearing I unwisely rode. Not bad in the flats. But up on the hill I cried. Boo hoo me

With word of the “Barrier Of Unusual Size” flying about the interwebs, everyone knew Murphy and crew had something exciting in store for this new venue.

And true to rumor, there was The Barrier as well as a fun new course. Even the slight threat of rain didn’t keep the crowds away.

Watch for yourself as the master 45+A and 35+A men race for the first time around this new venue. And be looking out for the “Barrier of Unusual Size”!

It’s mid-season for the Sacramento Cyclocross Series with race #4 at Lembi Park in Folsom, CA. Watch the open single-speed category spin their guts out on this twisty fun course. This one was a perfect blend of grass, rollers, a sand pit, run-up, a bit of pavement, and a few barriers.
