One of the things I learned from my trip is that the food in Shanghai is amazing. You can find so many varieties and flavors. The only problem is trying not too eat too much. I must have been on the 5000 calorie track for a bit before I scaled back. Oh but well worth it.

Nor Cal Coast Sportsmobile Trip

Just after Christmas we packed up the Sportsmobile and headed out for a road trip. We wanted to visit the Solar Living Institute up in Hopland so that set our first destination.

Solar Living Institute - Hopland, CA

After touring the site we filled up on BioDiesel and drove over to our camping spot for the night. Just a short distance away is Cow Mountain Recreation Area. This B.L.M. (Bureau of Land Mismanagement) site encompasses around 52,000 acres. During the steep and narrow dirt drive up to the top you would think that half of that is covered with shotgun shell casings. All along the way were piles and piles of shells.

Tailless Whipscorpion

This not so little critter is called a Tailless Whipscorpion. It’s neither a scorpion nor a spider. Still, it’s one spooky critter and not something you would normally want hanging out under your bathroom sink. Luckily, this one was under our sink down in Yalapa Mexico and not up here at home.

St Cristina Italy Panoramic

Here is a panoramic photo from our vacation house in the town of St. Cristina, Italy. The town is located in the middle of the Dolomites. Over to the right is a great example of the amazing mountain formations all around the Dolomites.

Following the valley up and to the left leads to Passo Sella and Passo Gardena. The Sella was on the route of the Giro d’Italia this year.

The Ledge Bungy Jump

The Ledge Bungy Jump, Queenstown, New Zealand

Here is a short video of my second bungy jump. It’s from a deck called “The Ledge” up on a hill above Queenstown, New Zealand. This time I chose to run off instead of leap with my feet bound. This was a bit harder than the first jump. The actual act of forcing yourself to run off of a ledge really goes against your internal will to survive. In my previous jump, it was easier since it was possible to just look forward, listen to the count-down, and then leap.

Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump

Here is a short video of my first bungy jump. It’s from the Kawarau Bridge just outside of Queenstown, New Zealand. I really wish I had had a helmet camera when I was there. That would have made for some great footage.

If you have never tried bungy jumping, I highly recommend it. The thrill is unbelievable. As you go through life you become less and less exposed to new and exciting events that push your senses to their limits. Your first bungy jump will do that.

I have added a few photos from my trip last year to Oaxaca, Mexico. I traveled there with a group of friends for New Year’s 2001/2002. It’s a beautiful place and I recommend visiting.
